NECHE 2026 Annual Meeting Call for Proposals

The Commission thanks you for your interest in submitting a proposal.  The deadline for proposals has now passed.  Primary presenters will be notified of the status of their proposal in mid-May.

The New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) invites proposals for concurrent sessions at our 2026 Annual Meeting that will take place Wednesday, December 9 through Friday, December 11, 2026, at the Sheraton Boston Hotel in Boston, MA.

This year, we are seeking a broad range of proposals that reflect the current landscape, challenges, and innovations in higher education.

We welcome sessions that engage with issues central to institutional quality, effectiveness, and improvement. Proposals may address a wide variety of topics, including-but not limited to-assessment of student learning, governance and leadership, financial sustainability, innovation, student success, non-credit and alternative credentials, and the impact of emerging technologies.

We encourage submissions that:

  • Share promising practices, research, or lessons learned;
  • Highlight innovative approaches or emerging trends;
  • Foster discussion and engagement among participants; and
  • Offer practical insights that institutions can apply in their own contexts.

Session formats may include presentations, panels, workshops, or other interactive formats. Proposals may be submitted from a single institutions or multiple institutions.

We particularly welcome proposals that reflect diverse institutional perspectives and experiences across the higher education landscape.

The proposal deadline is May 31, 2026.

Preparing a Proposal

When completing the form, you will be asked to provide the following information:

  • Session Title
  • Topic or Category
  • Presenter Names, Titles, Institutions, Email(s) (maximum of 4 presenters)
  • Brief Description of Session (150 words)
  • How will you engage the audience? (100 words)
  • What format will you use for your session?
  • What is your evidence of the effectiveness of this work?
  • Key Takeaways for Participants (75 words)

Submitting a Session Proposal

Please submit your proposal here by May 31, 2026.

You will be notified via email by June 14, 2026 if your session has been accepted for inclusion at the NECHE 2026 Annual Meeting.

Annual Meeting Registration

All session presenters must register for the NECHE 2026 Annual Meeting. Presenters will register at a discounted rate of $425.

As part of NECHE’s 2025 Annual Meeting, the Commission is seeking proposals from our members for concurrent sessions.

The NECHE 2025 Annual Meeting will take place Wednesday, December 10 through Friday, December 12, 2025, at the Sheraton Boston Hotel in Boston, MA.

There are approximately 500 attendees at the Annual Meeting. Many of the concurrent sessions are led by participants from NECHE’s member institutions. This year, we are inviting member institutions to submit a multi-institution concurrent session proposal for inclusion on this year’s agenda.

We invite you and your colleagues to review the criteria and guidelines below.

Please note that this year we will only include proposals that include 2 or 3 institutions.

The proposal deadline is April 18, 2025.

Annual Meeting Themes

Proposals should align with one of the following themes:

  • Responding to Changes in the Higher Education Landscape;
  • Innovation: Implementing innovative curricular/co-curricular approaches;
  • Student Learning and Success: Improving student success for ALL students and/or developing a culture of evidence-based decision making through assessment and institutional research efforts;
  • Institutional Learning and Effectiveness: improving organizational effectiveness through various initiatives such as strategic planning; addressing campus climate; and administrative/financial management;
  • AI and Technology: redesigning experiences across the organization (academic affairs, student affairs, administration) through the integration of AI and other technologies
 

If your proposal does not fit into one of these themes, you will have an opportunity to propose an additional theme as part of the submission process.

Proposal Criteria

The proposal process is competitive. Priority will be given to proposals that:

  • connect the topic to one or more of the Standards for Accreditation;
  • include significant audience engagement and participation beyond Q&A;
  • explicitly address and encourage translation or adaptation to other institutional settings and include information on how-to start/organize/implement the initiative;

Multi-Institution Concurrent Session Proposal

The Commission seeks proposals from multiple institutions or consortia that align with one of the themes and meet the criteria identified above.

Session Format Options

Sessions will be 60 or 75 minutes in length. Format options include:

    • Roundtable Discussion – informal group discussions around a common theme and/or issue
    • Panel Presentation: A number of panelists will present their perspectives on a given topic with time for audience discussion and interaction.
    • Other: Please propose your own session format.

Submitting a Multi-Institution Session Proposal
