Commission Announces Appointment of Laura M. Gambino The Commission on Institutions of Higher Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Laura M. Gambino as Vice President. Laura is currently serving as the Associate Dean for Assessment and Technology at Stella and Charles Guttman Community College in the City University of New York and as Visiting Scholar at the Community College Research Center, Teacher’s College, Columbia University. Previously she served as Connect to Learning Research Coordinator at LaGuardia Community College and earlier as Professor at Tunxis Community College in Connecticut where she was Program Coordinator for Computer Information Systems and ePortfolio Coordinator. She earned her B.S. in computer science from Adelphi University, her M.S. in computer and information science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and her Ed.D. in educational leadership and management from Capella University. She has served as principal investigator on grants from the U.S. Department of Education, Making Connections National Resource Center, the Salomon Foundation, the Gates Foundation, and the CUNY System. With the National Institute for Learning Outcomes Assessment, Laura serves as a Coach and as an Excellence in Assessment Peer Evaluator. She has published and presented widely on ePortfolios, assessment, and Guided Pathways. Laura is a trained peer evaluator for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.Laura will join the Commission staff in September 2018, with a range of responsibilities focusing principally on supporting the Commission and its institutions in making good use of data with respect to student achievement and success.
